The Mac app as a second node

Mandala for Mac is a full node: it keeps a copy of your world, works offline, and syncs with your home. Installing it: Install on a Mac.

Join your home

The simplest way: on the Mac app's first screen, choose Join your identity and use a code from a device you already use (Join a device with a code).

Or from the menu bar:

  1. On a device you already use, Settings → Security → Add a device shows a code and a QR. In the Mac app's menu bar item, choose Join your identity… and enter that code.
  2. The Mac and your home trust and enroll each other. The Mac syncs with the home over HTTPS; the home reaches the Mac through the device mesh.
  3. If you have set up root keys, certify the Mac: on your home's Workspace, Settings → Root keys → Devices → Certify, with your paper key or a security key. Until certified, a device is not trusted once a root exists.

Use it

  • Show the home server / Show this Mac's node chooses what the window shows.
  • Start at login keeps your Mac's node running.
  • Closing the window keeps Mandala in the menu bar; ⌘Q quits cleanly.

Coming soon — native Mac notifications, and your accomplice using your Mac's apps when you ask (its own labelled cursor; touching anything stops it).
